Here is a step-by-step guide for applying for financial aid: 

Step 1: 

Get a PIN 

Obtain a U.S. Department of Education personal identification number (PIN) on the Internet from http://www.pin.ed.gov/. If you are a dependent student, one of the parents whose information you will provide on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) also needs to obtain a PIN. 

Step 2: 

Gather Information 

Gather the following documents to complete the FAFSA. Include parent and student information if you are dependent.  

·    Federal Income Tax Form and, if applicable, Schedule C,E and F  

·    W2's 

·    Student's driver's license number 

·    Current cash, savings and checking account balances. Current investment values (stocks, bond, mutual funds, CDs, etc.) excluding retirement accounts 

·    Child support (paid and/or received) 

·    Untaxed income such as; ADC/TANF, Welfare benefits, Social security, Workman's compensation, etc. 

·    Veteran's benefits or housing and living allowances for military and clergy 

Step 3: 

FAFSA on the Web 

Complete your FAFSA on the Web; the free way to apply online for student financial aid! (Students who applied for aid last year may be able to complete a Renewal FAFSA application online.) When you apply online, you don't hassle with paperwork, and you get your results faster. Plus, help filling out your FAFSA is built into the system, so you'll know what to do as you go along. The federal school code for Clarkson College (step 6 on the FAFSA) is 009862. The FAFSA priority deadline for Clarkson College is March 1.

Step 4: 

Additional information 

You will be notified from Clarkson College as to what further information and/or documents are needed. Upon receipt of such notification, please provide the requested information as soon as possible. 

Financial aid will not be awarded until all requested information and/or documents are received and processed by the Clarkson College Student Financial Services Department.
